Certification: Level 1 Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers and Neuromodulators Certificate for RNs.

Prerequisite: Active registration and with good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Applicants must provide a copy of registration.

5 Days 9:00am - 4:30pm

This is a thorough and comprehensive 5 day course. Small class size to optimize personal attention with experienced RN and medical director support. The course objective is to provide the RN with the knowledge, understanding, and assessment skills with a solid foundation to provide these treatments safely to their patients.

  • Anatomy and physiology, review of muscles, nerves, arteries and the skin

  • Facial changes with aging and/or medical conditions

  • Psychological and social aspects

  • Standards of practice, insurance and liabilities

  • What’s new in the market, combination treatments, making a brand for yourself

  • Patient consultation, patients concerns and expectations, consent, photography, pre and post procedure instructions, charting, follow up and touch ups

  • Room preparation

  • Introduction to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, what they are, what they do

  • Health Canada approved hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, how they are similar and how they differ

  • Injection techniques, placement for marionette lines, nasolabial folds, lips, philtrum

  • Introduction to neuromodulators, what they are. what they do

  • History of use

  • Health Canada approved neuromodulators, how they are similar and how the differ

  • Reconstitution and storage

  • Dosage, marking and depth

  • Contraindications, recognizing issues and what to do

  • Injection techniques for forehead, glabella, crows feet, bunny lines, brow lift, upper lip, gummy smile, DAO’s, chin and platysmal bands

Meet yout Instructor: Janet de Boer RN CC.

Janet de Boer has been a RN of 36 years, critical care/anesthetics for 20 and dermatology/cosmetic medicine for 16. She worked in Saudi Arabia for 10 years in anesthetics where her teaching debut began. Janet has taught and mentored throughout her career. She very much enjoys watching her students grow professionally and personally with the experience and knowledge that she has shared.

The world of cosmetic medicine is filled with many opportunities for career growth. Janet believes the fundamentals must be taught right and provide a strong base for a safe practice. Students must be given the resources, time and learning environment to aid them with their new skills. With these elements in place the growth is inevitable! Knowledge is power!!!
